What Are Adult Day Centers?

Adult Day services are a system of professionally delivered, integrated, home and community-based, therapeutic, social and health-related services provided to individuals over the age of 18 to sustain living within the community.

Adult Day Centers are an invaluable resource for individuals and families dealing with dementia and other chronic health care concerns by offering health care services along with therapeutic recreational and social events on a daily basis. Adults of all ages in need of functional support attend Adult Day Centers to spend their days in a safe place while remaining at home in the evenings. Adult Day Centers provide needed comfort for participants and respite for family members and caregivers. Adult Day Centers provide safe, quality care for frail and vulnerable adults.



What is MADSA?
The Michigan Adult Day Services Association (MADSA) is a coalition of adult day service providers throughout the state of Michigan. MADSA’s mission is to promote and support the growth and development of high quality adult day services. MADSA offers a resource for service providers in addition to educators, researchers, advocates, volunteers and others who are involved in this field.

History of MADSA
The Michigan Adult Day Services Association is a voluntary, membership organization of those providing, interested in providing, or supporting adult day services in Michigan.  MADSA was established in 1978, by a small group of adult day center directors interested in networking, advocacy, marketing, sharing resources, and providing quality services while meeting established standards of care. MADSA partners with the Michigan's Aging Community Living and Supports Bureau and local Area Agencies on Aging to promote and ensure quality of adult day services throughout the state of Michigan.
